“Money is all we want; LOVE is what we need. “ Something to ponder I think.

It would seem to me that if we want something really bad, but do not need it, and we just “go for it” so to speak, then when the time comes that we honestly NEED something, can we afford it? Chances are we would not and the reason is I think is the same that could possibly relate to our daily lives. For example, when we go to the store we try, or at least should try to get what we need and leave behind what we WANT. That way we will always have something for the future.  In other words, if one was to choose a mate solely based on what is in his/hers bank account rather than what’s in the heart, the chances are great that one and eventual both will be very unhappy. Same holds true when one simply choses a mate only because he/she is “SO handsome, or SO pretty.” And you take that person for no other reason their physical appearance.”  What happens IF one if not both of you “God forbid”, is stricken with an illness or disease or a horrible accident that suddenly or even over time erases the beauty that you loved, rather LUSTED over. Would you simply stop loving them because they looked different? IF “in my opinion” if it was the only the outer beauty that you wanted, I would dare to say, NO you would not stay. But if it were to be complicated by your having, or wanting to be the “good one”, yes one may stay, but not for the rite reasons. Why I would say or even think such a thing one may ask? Because you did not actually ad honestly “love” the person, you simply “lusted” over what made you feel good about yourself. I would even go as far as to say even if you stayed with someone in the situation you or maybe even both of them would cheat. Love is blind and accepting all of ones faults, love is forgiving, love is everlasting, and love is being faithful and truthful. No matter how painful it may seem to someone, “love is being open and honest to whom you really are.”  If one cannot be honest enough to be honest with one’s self, how can you expect to be another to be honest with you. No, love is not, will not and should not be attached to another’s fame, fortune, or what he/she can do for ME, but what can I do for the other.

I think I should mention something about myself; no I am far from being rich, but I do ok for myself. I own and run my own business and I thank goodness that I have the best boss in the world. I was raised EXTREMEMLY poor realizing and accepting the fact that if we had utilities for more than six months out of the year, we had a good year. OR if we had something other than coffee and biscuits for we had a special breakfast. And you know what, I am SO thankful for those so many lean years, it made me be so much more appreciative of what I have today. During those lean years, while in my teen’s trying to get through high school and college, I felt ashamed or embarrassed to even talk to a girl, much less asking her out on a date. And when I did they first question I was hit with was “what kind of car do you drive”. For the record I was driving a 1967 (I believe) Ford Falcon. This thing was a faded bluish color, with faded yellow doors, ragged seats and only am radio. I was proud of my old car and even more proud me being the person I was that no one else wanted to take time to see. Well enough is enough I was thinking so I decided to try one more time on the date thing. With a plan “B”, just in case. So I ask out another young lady, (high school), and low and behold she said yes. Great I finally and just maybe found a girl that did not ask about my car, or where do I work, or how much I was planning on spending on her. The day came, I got as dressed up as I could, feeling lucky to be going on a date with a girl who was nice. The date was really just a movie and eats kind of thing. Later in the evening I pulled up to her house, and there she was, man did she look pretty just standing there at the door waiting for me to arrive. (Ok, the standing at the door thing waiting on me was an exaggeration, could have just been good or bad timing.) At any rate as soon as I pulled up, I could see that pretty expression change to something like, “OHHhh CRAP” as she was moving back into the house. I walked up to the door, rang the doorbell, she came to the door, obviously staring at my car while explaining that “she all of a sudden got sick to her stomach and that her head started to hurt. She just did not feel like going out that night, that she was sorry for being sick and for me to just go ahead and have a good time.” I simply ask if it would be ok if I were to call her some time? Her reply was, we will see. Ok, fine I mean she was pretty and all, in my eyes anyway and she did seem nice. But what the heck, plan B is in effect so let’s roll. My step father had a brand new Cadillac, man this thing was some kind of sharp. Well for the mid 70’s anyway. I ask Bob. (my stepdad), if I could use his Cadillac for a little while. He had this “OH HELL no” look in his eyes and face. But he ask me, son you have a car, why do you want to use my car, I just bought that car. I explained what just happened and what I wanted to do at which time Bob, smiled, gave me the key’s and told me to have a good time. So I left in Bob’s new Cadillac, and went right back to that pretty girl’s house. I rang the doorbell, and here she came. Still dressed and looking just as pretty, she noticed the Cadillac and what I saw you may wonder.  I told her that I decided to go ahead on out for a little while, but I just wanted to stop back by to check on her and to see if I could do anything for her before I head out. A MIRACLE, SHE WAS HEALED. She made it very clear that she was feeling better and thought she could go out after all. I politely told her that I was not interested in our continuing on with our date, that I wanted her to now that I am a good person and what I may lack on the outside I more than make up for from who I am on the INSIDE. That stayed with me even up to now.  Let me explain please, I have cars, trucks, fly planes Yes I am a prop jock, a nice house and my Harley. I am blessed with not just the ability but with the intestinal and testicular fortitude to work extremely hard to be where I am. OK, back on topic, usually if not for business my first few dates are nice in the traditional since. As I maybe a not so fancy restaurant, but then again I am not drawn to the fancy shmancy, I got more money then you kind of place. Just to see what her reaction is. I want her to see who I am, and not what she THINKS I am. I want someone who will stick with and love me through the rough times as well as the good times. I realize, understand and accept that look’s/appearances, success, fame or fortune is not a given me, it is not eternal. You can have all those things today and lose them tomorrow. Ahhhh, but love, I mean TRUE love IS eternal; it will last even through death.  Like an old saying “Money can buy you a new puppy but ONLY love can make it wag its tail.” So how do you feel about what I have said? More importantly about the actual meanings and opinions I may have. IF anyone actually does see and read this, would you be so kind as to let me know what your thoughts are?

In memorie of my best friend and brother God himself could have ever given  to  anyone.

This was Don's favorite vest, he had it on when he was killed by a lady who was lrgally blind, yet still had a D.L and decided to drive.

I never really new my mother until I was 16, so sad to say that the primary cause was do to I can only assume was due to a nasty divorce which I was so young at the time I really never knew any details. Well other then what I was told by my father. Now please understand Iloved my father, itwas just after I got older it was extremely hard for me to respect him as a son should do. As I got older I began to ask questions, A LOT of questions at which time I would I was able to find outthe truth. The truth as far as my mom was not a bad person at all. In fact she turned out tobea saint. Even if itwas only in my eyes for so many years. The exact details I will not get into of course, primarely because it would not be relevent to the point I discussed things with my mom in mylater years more in depth as well with other members of my family and was able to verify what momma was telling me was indeed truth. My father was a good man I would say but not a very good "father" or "son" for that matter. The point I would like and hope to make is this. If you are with some one rather a husband, wife or even a significant other, whatever the problem(s) do NOT use your or any other childeren as your weapons againt the other. Please take heed to what I am saying. Eventually in time, maybe even YEARS down the road you will regret it. And their will be no one to blame but you. "Have you called you brother or mother today? I sure wish I could. I will ALWAYS love and miss you both.

I know this is an old saying...

But still remains true. 'Freedom is not free". Please take the time to thank a vet. God bless the USA.
